On the motion of Mr J. C. Harbut the matter was considered in committee. On resuming in open meeting the chairman (Flight Lieutenant E. Lunn) announced that the meeting had decided that a trust fund on the lines of the Canterbury University College Amateur Athletic Club Capital Trust Fund, be set up, and that investigations be made as to the appointment of suitable trustees. Three trustees will administer the fund. Any expenditure from the fund will first have to have the recommendation of the centre’s executive before going to the trustees for consideration.

Mr J. E. Millar was appointed to contbe centre’s honorary solicitor, Q’. S ' Thom as, on the drawing up of a suitable trust deed. No response had been received from clubs to his circular advising that the centre had arranged with the City Council for winter training facilities at English Park, said the secretary (Mr G. A. Towart). The purchase of 200 new uniforms was authorised. These will be a specially manufactured light-weight singlet and a new design of shorts, which will be sold to future Canterbury representatives, and may be returned. Ustvan Rozsavolgyi, of Hungary, broke the official European record when he ran 1500 metres in 3min 42.25ec at an international meeting in Belgrade today. This was one-fifth of a second better than the record set last year by the Hungarian, Sandor Iharos. Rozsavolgyi’s time was the same as that of Dr. Roger Bannister for 1500 metres when he won the mile event in the British Empire Games at Vancouver last August.
