NEGLIGENT DRIVING CAUSING DEATH
MAN SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT (New Zealand Press Arjociatton) INVERCARGILL, June 17. Reginald Frederick Bevin, aged 37. a lime works employee, pleaded guilty in the Invercargill Magistrate’s Court this morning to a charge of negligent driving causing the death of an elderly woman, Mrs Annie Tau, at Invercargill on June 6. The Magistrate (Mr Stewart Hardy, S.M.) sentenced him to three months imprisonment. The accident, which occurred on the Bluff road about 9.45 p.m., resulted in Mrs Tau’s being killed and her daughter and four members of the Bevin family, including the accused, being admitted to hospital. The Magistrate cancelled Bevin’s licence for three years.
