MOUSE TRAPS

Sir, —There are some new mousetraps on the market that are efficient but very cruel. They catch the mice by the tips of their small noses, and the animals are several minutes aaying. Could the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have the traps banned, or persuade the makers to make the “table” smaller, so that the mouse must be further in before releasing the spring, and so get the mortal blow on the back of its neck? —Yours, etc., M.V. June 17, 1955.
