ACCIDENTS
FATALLY CRUSHED BY FALL OF ROCK (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 2. A man died in the Hutt Public Hospital yesterday afternoon about an hour after being admitted with a crushed chest, head injuries and shock. He was N. Walker, of Oroua street, Eastbourne, aged about 35. Mr Walker was digging a drain between Muritai and Pencarrow Lighthouse about 2.30 p.m. when a fall of rock buried him.
GIRL CYCLIST DIES OF INJURIES
(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, June 2. After being struck by a car in Nith street this afternoon an Invercargill girl died soon after her admission to file Kew Public Hospital. She was: Patricia Josephine Nally, aged 13, of Kew road. She died without regaining consciousness. The girl was cycling along Nith street about 4.50 p.m. when she was struck by a car travelling in the opposite direction.
MAN DIES AFTER FALL
An inquest into the death of Edward Urquhart Freeman, a brewery hand, of 26 Vogel street, Richmond, will be opened this morning. Mr Freeman was injured in a fall at Wards Brewery building, Kilmore street, on Wednesday evening and died in the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday afternoon. He fell through a hole in a floor to another floor and on to a steel paddle, which entered his head.
YOUTH INJURED BY EXPLOSION
(New Zealand Press Association) GREYMOUTH, June 2. . Henry Robert Dobbin, aged 18, of Dobson, was admitted to the Greymouth Hospital today suffering severe head injuries resulting from a shotfiring accident on the railway line near the Dobson State coal mine. Dobbin, who is employed by the New Zealand Railways Department, was reported by the hospital authorities to be in a critical condition tonight.
CYCLIST’S IDENTITY ESTABLISHED The identity of a cyclist who was injured in a collision with a truck at the corner of London street and Stanmore road on Wednesday evening was established by the police yesterday. The cyclist is Maurice Walsh, aged 17, of 55 Joy street; Shirley. He is at present in the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
MEN FOUND INJURED ON ROAD Two men who were found lying injured on the roadway in Marine Parade, New Brighton, early last evening are now in the Christchurch Public Hospital. Police are making inquires as to how the men were injured. The men were Maurice Adams, of 143 Marine Parade, and George Beyers, of 32 Effingham street, North Beach. Their condition late last night was reported to be satisfactory.
DRIVER INJURED WHEN TRUCK OVERTURNS A man. who has refused to give his name to the police, was injured when a light truck he was driving overturned near the Eyrewell State Forest late last evening. The man was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital.
