. (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. May 27 The first Thunderjet fighter-bomber to land in New Zealand touched down u Qhakea at 12.52 p.m. today. It was the first of “Operation Handclasp II,” the United States Far East Air Force's goodwill mission to Australia and New Zealand, to land today. "Three Thunderjets made the flight to Ohakea from Sydney in a few minutes over three hours. The fourth was delayed 10 minutes behind its companions and the two Superfortresses which act as refuelling planes. The Globemaster, with the mission’s leader (Major-General P. E. Ruestow) aboard, landed later this afternoon.
