These are Shorthorn/ Jersey and Jersey/Ayrshire cross. 1953- season. 14 cows to be offered, not one gave less than 3001 b fat, 5 gave 4001 b ranging up to 479. 1954- season, only three of the cows were below 3001 b butter-fat. The seven selected Heifers are from cows that have actually given from 3201 b to 4151 b of butter-fat in a season. On account of MR E. L. ADAMS, “Pitcairns,” Brookside: 7 Excellent Friesian Cows, due August/September. 8 Eight-months-old Friesian Heifer Calves, from selected cows. Butter-fat records for each of the seven cows will be available on sale day ranging as high as 5461 b fat; four are due in August and three in October. All are in calf to “Elmwood Majesty,’’ bred by R. C. Mason and Sons, and carries nothing under 4.5 test in nearest four generations. His dam did 421 fat, 499 fat, and 524 fat in her first three seasons. Elmwood Majesty’s first heifers in milk this season averaged 4.4 per cent. test. Eight Friesian heifer calves are all by the above bull out of tested dams. Owner has genuine reason for selling as apart from 10 two-year registered heifers coming into the herd he is selling these excellent grades as he intends to keep all registered cattle.
