CYCLIST KILLED ON CAUSEWAY
COLLISION WITH MOTORCYCLE
» A cyclist was killed and a motort cyclist injured when they were ina volved in a collision at the Mount i Pleasant end of the Causeway about , 11 p.m. yesterday. 1 The identity of the cyclist had not e been established early this morning. The motor-cyclist is Vernon Cham--1 bers, aged 21, of 85 Sumner road, I Redcliffs. He was taken to the ChristJ church Public Hospital by St. John 7 Ambulance and admitted suffering ’’ from head injuries and shock. His condition was reported to be satisJ factory.
METAL CHIP STRIKES SCHOOLBOY’S EYE A pupil from the Ashburton Technical High-School, Ivan Behrnes, aged 13, son of Mr and Mrs I. Behrnes, of Chertsey, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital on Wednesday after an accident in the metalwork room at the school. Behrnes was struck in the eye by a chip of metal from an anvil. He was taken to the Ashburton Public Hospital and was transferred immediately to Christchurch.
BOY INJURED IN FALL. FROM BICYCLE
Mark Maloney, a schoolboy, of 79 London street, suffered head mjuries yesterday, when he fell from his bicycle at the Falsgrave street subway. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 4.20 p.m. His condition was reported to be satisfactory last evening. •
