Use of Road Fund
“Over my dead body,” was the comment of the Minister of Works and chairman of the National Roads Board (Mr W. S. Goosman) on suggestions that Road Fund surpluses might be used for other purposes. The Minister was asked to comment on the suggestion after he had addressed the council of the North Island Motor Union in committee on the Government’s reasons for making the £1,000,000 grant to the Roads Fund subject to annual appropriation.— (P.A.)
