CRICKET SOUTH AFRICANS SCORE WELL
CENTURY TO GODDARD AGAINST OXFORD (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, May 25. A century by Tom Goddard, the first of the tour, helped the South Africans to score 434 for eight Wickets on a day of free scoring against Oxford University today. The South Africans then declared, and Oxford scored five runs without loss by the end of the day. Sunshine and an easy-paced pitch provided the tourists with conditions to their liking. Goddard batted soundly for 121, while Jack McGlew, Roy McLean, and Paul Winslow also excelled. McLean gave a display of powerful and attractive strokes. Goddard batted for five hours and a quarter, and hit 11 fours. Scores:— SOUTH AFRICA
