SOMERSET FAIR
AUSTRALIAN CAMPAIGN
LIKELY “The Press” Special Service 1 AUCKLAND, May 26. The leading three-year-old colt, Somerset Fair, will resume training at Ellerslie next week.
His part-owner, Mr A. Millen, said today that arrangements had been made for Somerset Fair to rejoin J. C. Bagby’s stable on Monday. Somerset Fair will be nominated for all the Important Australian races in the spring. If present plans mature, he will leave for Sydney with the unbeaten two-year-old colt, El Khobar, near the end of July. Bagby will probably make the trip. The last time Somerset Fair ran was at Trentham last March, when he finished unplaced in‘the New Zealand St. Leger Stakes. It was his eleventh start for the season, and he won at the other 10. Almost immediately, Somerset Fair was rested, and he spent the intervening time on Mr Millen’s farm at Pakuranga. Somerset Fair is doing particularly well, and he is very fresh and lively. For most of the time during his rest he did regular exercise, so he should be in the right condition to begin another preparation. His best form would earn him rich prizes during the spring.
