SIX VEHICLES DAMAGED
BUS RUNS OUT OF CONTROL
(New Zealand Press Association) ROTORUA, May 26. Five parked vehicles were damaged, one beyond repair, when a New Zealand Railway Road Services bus crashed into them in Hinemoa street, opposite t the Road Services depot, about 3 a.m. today. A cleaner at the depot had checked a 36-seater bus and was driving it along Hinemoa street to turn into the rear of the depot. He was wearing gumboots, and the foot on the brake as he reduced speed to make the turn slipped on to the accelerator. Simultaneously, his hands, which still had oil on them,’ lost grip of the steering wheel. The bus touched the end of one parked car, and then struck a S° x er right rear, carrying it about three yards. A van was parKed close to the second car. The bus struck the van and pushed it into two more cars. The momentum of the bus carried these three vehicles in a heap eight yards down the road. was not badl y damaged ine light van was wrecked.
