SPREYDON BUS SERVICE
Sir,—How long are we to tolerate the frightful service now being run on this route? Surely not three months! Because of age I must use the bus to get to and from my work ° ai J y ; 1 used to get a seat from Athelstan street to the Square, but now, unfortunately, I have to stand, and from the Spreydon shopping area to town, we are packed in like a lot °j sardines. The parents of some of the children could perhaps assist in giving some of their children a little lecture on manners. The service from the Square out is far from satisfactory. If you cannot get away from work to get the 5.3 p.m. bus, you have to wait another 20 to 26 minutes—five, eight and 10 minutes late on the last three nights. Surely we are entitled to a better service.—Vours etc.,

[“The writer has not given the bus times of travel to work,” said Mr J nkJ2u U ’u g £ neral mana ger of the Christchurch Transport Board, in his reply to this letter. “The present change of service is brought about at the request of the residents of the Simeon street area, who did not wish to support the board’s proposed change of route to give service to people resident in Selwyn street and around the Roker * street-Dunn street area. Checks show that seats are available at Athelstan street. Had the board’s route been adopted, all buses would have run via Milton street and the choice of vehicles would have remained unchanged for people resident m and around this area.”]
