GERMANY’S STEEL OUTPUT
Britain’s Figure Now Overtaken , GENEVA, May 25. West Germany’s steel output in the first three months of this year exceeded Britain’s for the first time since the war, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe reported today. It issued figures showing that although Britain’s steel output rose by 10 per cent, in the first quarter of 1955 West Germany increased her output by 18 per cent. In terms of anhu-I production West German outr- J 'se from 17.434,000 metric tons ' ’ 954 to 22,488,000 in ■*955, compared with Britain’s increase from 18,817,000 to 20.862,000 metric tons.
