Return Of Buganda’s Kabaka Sought

KAMPALA, May 25. Four members of a Buganda delegation left by air for London last night to seek the immediate return of the Kabaka of Buganda, Mutesa 11. They are members of a committee appointed by the Buganda Lukiko (Parliament) to draft legal instruments incorporating the new constitutional reforms accepted by the Lukiko.

The British Government, which exiled the Kabaka in 1953 for non cooperation, made his return conditional upon acceptance of the reforms. The Colonial Secretary (Mr Alan Lennox-Boyd) has told the delegation he will see them in June if he is still responsible for affairs after tomorrow’s election.
