Holder Of First British Airship Licence Dies
®ec. 10 p_m.) LONDON, May 26. Major-General Sir John Edward Lapper, who flew over London in 1907 ♦ i^ ri^ a * n s military airship, died at his home in Eastbourne, Sussex, yesterday. He was 93. General Capper held Britain’s first airship licence and claimed to be the world’s first aeroplane passenger. His irv,. was made in the airship, •fculli Secundus, powered by a 50 h.p. engine. It travelled at four miles an hour and at times was blown backwards by the wind.
