Patricia Butler, of Cheshire, “Miss Great Britain, 1954,” and winner of the world’s largest cash prize for a bathing beauty—£looo—may stay in New Zealand permanently. She arriyed at Wellington in the Rangitiki this week and is now in Auckland where she hopes to do fashion modelling. Miss Butler, who is a 23-year-old brunette, represented Great Britain in the “Miss World” contest held in London last October. She has been 1951 National Ballroom Queen, 1953 Holiday Princess of Britain, and the 1953 TV Ideal Holiday Girl. A visit to Amsterdam brought her a fashion

contract there for several months, and more recently she refused a film offer because of her trip to New Zealand. Miss Butler, who is the daughter of a sea captain, was a ballet dancer for 13 years, and is a qualified ballet teacher. The highlight of five years of modelling, she says, was to wear the suite of diamonds worth £25,000 which was presented to the Queen by a North of England jewellery firm. The scene of the parade was an informal cocktail party. For those interested, “Miss Great Britain’s’’ measurements are: height, sft 7£in; weight, 9st 41b; hips, 37in;> waist, 24in; bust, 36in. Her hobby is food.
