150,000th VISITOR TO FAIR
GIFTS FOR GIRL one , hu " dred and fifty thousandth visitor to the New Zealand Industries Fair was a 14-year-old girl of Amberley—Anne Courage, who arrived a little after midday yesterday. A £5 order on a Christchurch firm, an ice-cream cake,, and other gifts were presented to her. „ When the door ? closed last night 9067 persons had visited the fair during the day and had brought the total attendance so far to 155.973. The corresponding daily figure for 1952 was 5313, and the previous record, in 1950 was 7454.
About midday the assistant manager of the fair (Mr B. Graham) and a police constable stood at the door counting the tickets surrendered. When Anne Courage and her brother arrived they were taken to the main hall where television cameras broadcast the presentation of gifts to receivers throughout the building. The one hundred thousandth visitor to the fair was 15-year-old Murray Duder, and he, too, arrived at the fair about midday on a Friday.
