EMPIRE SOCIETY’S ESSAY CONTEST

AUCKLAND GIRL WINS THIRD PRIZE (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 pun.) LONDON, May 19. Barbara McCamb of the Takapuna Grammar School, Auckland, won the Margaret Best Prize—the equivalent of third prize—in Class B of the Koyal Empire Society’s essay competition for 1954.

The chief examiner, Mr A. T. Milne said that she depicted well the internal and external effects of war on her country. J. J. Elliott, of King’s School, Remuera, and A. J.
