STOCK EXCHANGES SIGN OF BUOYANCY The week opened quietly on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. Sales were few but most sections had good buying support. Government stock was remarkably strong, with buyers for 23 issues and sellers for none. Invariably, because of its influence on interest rates, the market for Government stock has a marked effect on the stock exchange markets generally. Any buoyancy of State securities has a favourable reaction on other sections of the exchange. The recently issued shares by the Cyclone Fence and Gate Company, Ltd., were quoted for the first time, buyers appearing in the unlisted section at Ils 9d, but sellers were wide at 15s. The company’s Issue of preference shares also made their Initial appearance at 10s 3d and 10s 9d, respectively. Both issues are paid to 10s. DOMINION TRANSACTIONS CHRISTCHURCH
