Reported Refusal Of Dukedom

(Bee. U pan.) NEW YORK, April 5. The “New York Times" proolximed on the front page of its Wednesday edition: “Churchill quits as Prime Minister; Declines Dukedom to stay an M.P.”

In a dispatch from London, the newspaper reported that the Queen had offered a dukedom to Sir Winston Churchill when he tendered his resignation, but that Sir Winston Churchill had “humbly yet firmly declined.” The report added that in IMS, Sir Winston Churchill had been offered an earldom, which he had also refused.
