FARMS OFFERED AT AUCTION
TWO PROPERTIES FAIL TO REACH RESERVE
Two farming properties, offered for sale at public auction yesterday, failed to attract buyers. One, a wheat, cropping and fattening farm of 580 acres at Selwyn, was passed in at £32 an acre. Bidding opened at £25 an acre, and rose by two bids of £2 10s and two of £l. The property was offered on behalf of Misses E. and L. McGregor and M. Malcolm McGregor, whose family have farmed the property for 95 years. Buildings Include a home of five main rooms and a fourroomed cottage. There are also a woolshed, dip and sheep yards, implement shed, motor and wood shed, and various other outbuildings. At another auction a grazing and dairying property of 463 acres at Okains Bay was at first offered as a whole, but as there were no bids it was then offered in four blocks. There was only one bid for the first block offered, and it was passed in at £7O an acre. No bids were received for the other three blocks. The property includes a homestead block of 163 acres, subdivided into eight paddocks, and 300 acres adjoinmg the Summit road subdivided into four paddocks. There is a six-roomed house with all conveniences. Other buildings include a double garage, shearing shed, sheep yards, hay shed and fowlhouse. THREE SECTIONS SOLD Of 10 building sections in Englefield road, Belfast, offered for sale at a public auction yesterday, only three ’J ™ s xl d - u-T hc price for each was ±.300. No blds were made by the 10 buyers who attended, each section being sold at the reserve price The sections are of 32 perches.
