THIRD-PARTY PREMIUMS

SOME TO BE DEARER, SOME CHEAPER

(New Association) WEjfINGTON, April 6. On the unanimous recommendation to the Government of a special advisory committee, which includes representatives of private and. commercial motor-vehicle owners, adjustments have been made in third-party insurance premiums payable for the next motor-licensing period, which will commence on July 1. This was announced tonight by the Minister of Transport (Mr W. S. Goosman).

The rates for those classes which will have higher premiums this year are: business cars £2 16s, fire brigades £2 Is, trailers, 4s. an increase of Is in each case; public taxicabs £25 Is, which is £5 Is more than last year; hearses and ambulances £2 15s, an increase of £1; and service cars, which vary according to seating capacity, a common example being the 26-seater, £24 10s, which is £3 Is above last year’s premium.

The classes with lower premiums are trucks and vans £3 8s (2s less); private taxicabs £l2 (10s less); and omnibuses, which are rated on their seating capacity (£1 less).Premiums are unchanged for the, remaining classes, which include private cars and motor-cycles.
