ROTARY APPEAL FOR AGED

SUPPORT BY TRADES COUNCIL

The Christchurch Rotary Club’s appeal for £50,000 to assist the aged is being supported by the Canterbury District Trades Council of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. In a letter to the Homes for the Aged Appeal Committee, the council’s secretary (Mr C. H. Thomas) said: “I am sending out a circular to all our affiliations asking them, not only to support the appeal with contributions from their union funds, but also suggesting that they send circulars to their own members seeking individual subscriptions from them.” The of the Christchurch Rotary Club (Mr W. A. C. McDonald) said that the action of the council was most helpful, and should do much to stimulate the whole-hearted support of the trade union movement.

The Rotary Club will appeal to employers to arrange collections in shops, offices, and factories.
