MEMORIAL STAND AT WILDING PARK

SCHEMES FOR RAISING MONEY DISCUSSED Various schemes for raising the necessaiy money for the memorial stand at Wilding Park were discussed at a special meeting of representatives of committees of toe Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. The meeting adopted a recommendation from a sub-committee that a tennis week should be hejd at toe beginning of the next tennis season.

Mr B. R. Penfold, reporting toe views of toe sub-committee, said that the tennis week should include a parcels: day and some raffle or raffles for late shopping night. Another suggestion was the sale of 1000 5a coupons giving toe holders the right to a court for one evening. Social evenings could also be held in the winter months, he said. ■ ■ Other schemes suggested were discussed in committee. When the association resumed in open meeting five sub-commlt-tees were set up to work on the suggestions. These schemes will be additional to toe tolve for life membership of the parks

TOWN BEATS MALVERN IN JUNIOR MATCH A Town team won, 13 sets to 3. in a junior tennis match against a Malvern team at Kirwee on Saturday. TOWN V. NORTH CANTERBURY Town beat North Canterbury by 8 matches to 7 in a junior match played at Kaiapoi.
