Forty-two cars of the 319 starters have dropped out of the Monte Carlo rally, according to reports from European check-point officials. check-point at Amsterdam says that 17 of the 96 cars which started from Glasgow failed to check in. Amsterdam’s first aid post treated 92 competitors during the night, but most of the ailments were headaches and other minor complaints. Very few accidents have been reported, in spite of the ice-covered roads. '

The first car to arrive at the Paris check-point, at 2.18 p.m., was a Ford Zephyr, driven by James Risk and Donald Morley, who started from Glasgow. In bright sunshine, a police motorcyclist escorted the car through milling Paris traffic to the check-point, near the Arc de Triomphe. They were soon followed by other cars of the Glasgow contingent.
