RED CROSS SOCIETY GIFTS
DISPOSAL OF CLOTHING FROM N.Z. Five hundred cases of clothing provided by the New Zealand Red Cross Society will be shipped to the Middle ■East, 155 to the German Red Cross and 154 to the Austrian Red Cross. This information is given in a letter to the New Zealand Red Cross Society from the British Red Cross Society. “The need for clothing in the Middle East is still very great and your gift will be much appreciated by the refugees who are facing their sixth winter in exile, some of them still under canvas,” says the society’s international relations and relief adviser (Miss Evelyn Bark). “With regard to Germany, we are constantly receiving letters frorn the wives of British servicemen who have set up committees for the care of the displaced persons camps, and we have asked the German Red Cross to help them. This further consignment of New Zealand clothing will, we hope, do much to alleviate the continuing distress of the refugees in Germany. “In Austria there is also a great need amongst the refugees and we have arranged for the clothing to be dispatched as follows—9o cases to Graz, 44 to Klagenfurt and 20 to Vienna.
