Influence of Television.—Television seems to exert many influences. The latest example is the case of a retired colonel living in Surrey who adver- f tised for a cook-general at £4 a week. An applicant writing from a town on , the south -coast gave as the reason forwanting to leave her present job, “Reception on my television set is so bad by the sea.”—London, Nov. 6.
