QUEEN CARNIVAL AT ELLESMERE
NEARLY £3OOO RAISED FOR R.S.A.
Promoted by the -Ellesmere subbranch of the Returned Services’ Association to raise money for the purchase of the former'Courthouse building at Leeston, and for fitting it out as clubrooms, a queen carnival, which had been in progress for about twx> months, was brought to a successful conclusion during the week-end. The amount raised was £2973 6s Id.
There were three candidates in the contest, the winner being Miss Elizabeth Jones (Leeston). The other two were Misses Betty Croft (Lakeside) and Nola Hoskin (Doyleston). A crowning ceremony is to be held in a few weeks.
