WATER POLO

The first round of the Canterbury water polo championships was held in the. Centennial pool. Results were:— Wharenui beat Elmwood C. 3-1; Beckenham A beat Spreydon C, 3-1; Beckenham B beat North Beach, 4-3; Christchurch B beat East Christchurch B, 5-1, Spreydon A beat Elmwood A, 8-1; East C drew with Elmwood B, 5-5; East Christchurch A beat Christchurch A, 8-3; Spreydon B, a bye. The following team has been selected to represent Canterbury against a team from the cruiser Black Prince, in a game at the Centennial pool on Saturday evening : C. Chambers, N. Chambers, R. Henry, P. Breach, P. Hill, D. Billesdon, R. Freear. Reserves: B. McNellage, N. Marson, J. Watson.
