PRICE CONTROL

POSITIVE LIST BEING PREPARED “The desirability of the early release of a positive list of goods subject to price control has not been overlooked, and I would say that the Price Tribunal is preparing its final list at the present time.” This statement is made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr J. T. Watts) in a letter to the Associated Chambers of Commerce, which is quoted in “New Zealand Commerce.” official organ of the associated chambers. The organisation had asked the Minister for an appointment for a small group of representatives of various national organisations'to interview him pn the following two issues: (1) “An essential amendment to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, so as to tie the Price Tribunal to Government policy; and (2) the issue by the Price Tribunal of a positive list of goods subject to price fixation.” , . . - Mr Watts said he would-advise the organisation as soon as a convenient time could be arranged, the journal says.
