Hitler’s S.S. Troops Attend Rally

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, October 24. Former Hitler S.S. troops, wearing jackboots, breeches, black shirts, and badges of rank, turned up in force in West Berlin tonight, reports the Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Express.” They formed part of a packed audience at a meeting of the Stahlhelm (Steel Helmet), an organisation of former servicemen.

Some openly defied German and Allied laws and wore sheathed bfonets.

Police said that they could do nothing to prevent it. One British official said the matter would be investigated. The Stahlhelm is now completely organised all over West Germany. Berlin contains 14 districts divided into 134 divisions. Each bears the number of a war-time Wehrmacht division. Many are led by former generals.
