SERVICE FOR RATES
Sir,—lt is about time that the City Council gave some attention, to the grass growing on some of the city streets. The rates are increasing each year, with little or no extra service received by the householder. In parts of Andover street the grass on the footpath and the road is about one foot high; and it is a disgrace to the city. Although several complaints have been made, both personally and by letter, to the council, and promises to have the grass cleared up have been given, after many months, nothing yet has been done. Is there anyone in charge capable of taking a little responsibility?—Yours, etc., JUST HAD IT. September 30, 1954. [“All that remains to clean up Andover street properly is the cutting of a very small area of grass. Grass has already been cleared off the channels and paths," said Mr E. Somers, the City Engineer, when this letter was referred to him. “The council has just received a letter of commendation for similar work done in the same locality.”]
