STRANDED SHIP REFLOATED
WAIPIATA FOUND UNDAMAGED (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 4. The coastal ship Waipiata, which went aground on a mudbank near Port Chalmers at 7.45 a.m. on Saturday, was refloated at 8 aun. today. She later berthed at Birch street wharf, and a diver found her undamaged. This morning’s successful effort was the culmination of many attempts since Saturday to refloat the ship. During the last two days the Otago Harbour Board’s tug Dunedin, the pilot vessel Koputai, a heavy launch, and the harbour board's dredge Otakou were all used to try to refloat the Waipiata.
