CANDIDATES FOR TEACHING
SELECTION BEGINS TODAY The Canterbury Education Board’s selection committees appointed to choose candidates for admission to the Christchurch Teachers’ College for training will begin their sittings at the board’s office today. No fewer than 240 young, men and' women have applied for training as teachers, and two committees will interview candidates simultaneously. The selection committees include representatives of the board, the Education Department, the Teachers’ College, and school teachers. The personnel of the two committees is as follows: the chairman of the board (Mr S. J. Irwin), the principal of the Christchurch Teachers’ College (Mr D. Mackay), Miss M. Kennedy, a staff member of the college, and Mr L. Heyward, an inspector of schools; the chairman of the board’s appointment committee (Mr A. Greenwood), the senior inspector of schools (Mr J. E. Johnson), the vice-principal of the teachers’ college (Mr B. Dawber), and Mrs M. Cree, infant mistress at Phillipstown School.
