WIDOW’S CLAIM SUCCEEDS i JUDGMENT FOR £2370 AS COMPENSATION .. Judgment’ by consent for the plaintiff, Trixie Pearl Florence Brian, a widow, of Christchurch, against J. M. .Z. w 2.°fl’ ¥ d ” the sum of £2370, with £4l 12s funeral expenses arid 10 guineas costs, was entered by Judge Dalglish m the Compensation Court yesterday Mr B_. A. Barter appeared for the plaintiff and Mr B. McClelfor the defendant company. The plaintiff’s claim arose out of the death of her. husband, Jack William Brian, who was killed on February 24 when a truck belonging to the company which he was driving crashed J? to * th o wall of th e School for the Deaf, Sumner. Brian was returning to Christchurch from Lyttelton with a load of bananas when the accident
James Eli Cox, a brewery hand, of Christchurch (Mr Barter) was given judgment by consent against New Zealand Breweries, Ltd. (Mr G. H. Gould) m the sum of £434 3s and 6 guineas costs. Cox injured himself on March 28, 1953, when his feet gave way under him while he was pulling a hand truck and he fell on his back.
