“Flag-Showing” By Soviet Fleet

In spite of the bitterness and disappointment in quarters favourable to E.D.C. in the Western capitals, there is a definite awareness that the problem must be faced and solved soon. , Meeting in Germany A Bonn message says that the West German Cabinet will meet today to reshape its policy in the light of France’s rejection of E.D.C. The Chancellor (Dr. Adenauer) has called a special meeting at his holiday residence near Baden Baden.
Although E.D.C. has been killed by the Fr ench there still remain the Bonn Conventions, signed with West Germany by France. Britain and the United States, which would give West Germany limited sovereignty. These are, however, closely tied witn the terms of E.D.C.. and Dr. Felix von Eckardt, Dr. Adenauer’s press representative, said yesterday that it would be impossible to apply the conventions now “at a stroke of the pen.”
