KARITANE TRAINING

Sir,—l agree with “Free For All” about this fine, natural career for young women, Karitane nursing. May I make another suggestion?. Might a portion of time now given to sport or other forms of sublimation of energy not be more profitably devoted in school periods to a similar type of training for all girls? Is it not more important than cooking or sewing? Would it not tend to obviate adolescent, emotional difficulties, sex questions and possibly alleviate aggravating tensions, causing various forms of

delinquency? Arefsuch contacts not well known to have character stabilising qualities? Health and wellbeing of young generations might be the more readily guaranteed by such educational qualifications. Would not more* children survive to thrive?— Yours, etc., ALL ROUNDERS. ' September 1, 1954.
