NEWS FOR WOMEN HUNDREDS OF DOLLS ON SHOW AT ART GALLERY
The fourth annual doll show arranged by a committee from St. Stephen’s Church, Shirley, to assist the church building fund, was opened in the Durham Street Art Gallery yesterday. The show has become a special attraction for the August school holidays. Displays to interest mechanicallyminded boys included model aircraft
The two rooms of the art gallery presented a colourful scene. Bound the walls were large posters of many of the favourite nursery rhymes, and below them in tiered rows were dolls dressed as brides, Scottish lassies, some to represent characters from fairy tales, and others babies. ; Displays of historical interest included nursing through the ages. There were also figures from a Japanese Court, and a beautiful model portraying the Queen wearing her Coronation gown robes and crown and holding the Septre and orb.
