RADIO PROGRAMMES
Sir,—K. Baker declares that he is thinking of selling' his radio because the entertainment therefrom is poor Probably there are thousands who long J to pick the entrails from their sets! 1 There are many people who care little 1 for music, but when we hear—as on 1 last evening—our fairy tales sprinkled 1 with American slang, then our enter- 1 tainment has reached an all-time low. To hear “Jack and the Beanstalk” and ' “Cinderella” punctuated with “huh x huh” and “hmm hmm” is bad enough; \ but one character, believe it or not, i was described as a “bum hick.” Are 5 our youngsters to build up their I vocabulary “that-a-way”?—Yours, etc., ’ RAVING STREET. e Kaiapoi, August 31, 1954.
