DELEGATES FROM BRITAIN

Mr Eden Unlikely To Attend

(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, August 30. The Foreign Secretary (Mr Eden) will not attend next week's Manila conference on South-east Asian defence, it is- believed in diplomatic quarters in London.

A Foreign Office spokesman said Mr Eden had not finally made up his mind, but that if he decides against leading the British delegation, it would be because of his anxiety to keep in touch with the European Army crisis. No announcement about the composition of the delegation has been announced, but the Marquess of Reading, Minister of State at the Foreign Office, will probably deputise for Mr Eden. Diplomatic sources said the main lines of the draft treaty were now agreed between the prospective partners.
