STATE FLATS AT WELLINGTON

SECOND BIG BLOCK TO BE BUILT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 30. The Government has approved the erection of a seven-storeyed, 54-unit block of flats in Hanson street, Wellington, on a site adjoining that occupied by a nurses’ hostel. Announcing this tonight, the Minister of Housing (Mr W. Sullivan) said that tenders for the building would be called as'soon aspossible. ■Die design of the new block* would be similar to that of the 10-storeyed >lock to be built on the Terrace. Host of the units would contain two Mdrooms, but there would be some bed-sitting rooms on the ground-floor. The number of flat units approved for construction in the Wellington district was now 240, said Mr Sullivan.
