HOAD AND ROSEWALL REACH FINAL (Rec. 9 p.m.) BROOKLINE. August 21. I>wis Hoad and Ken Rosewall today advanced to the finals of the United States doubles tennis tournament when they beat William Talbert gnd Hamilton Richardson, 6-4, 12-10. Richardson and Talbert became stronger and more confident against the Australians as the match progressed. Hoad and Rosewall broke through Richardson’s service in the twenty-first game of the third set with the help of two double faults by him to go ahead at 11-10. Hoad then won his service and the match. I J a . lberti ln th ® nineteenth game of the third set, appeared to wrench his shoulder on an overhead smash, but his game did not appear to be visibly affected. The Australians did not lose a service during the 80-minute match of 40 games. They fought off four set points, three in the fourteenth game on Hoad’s service and another in the sixteenth on Rosewall’s service. In the women’s semi-final Louise Brough and Mrs Margaret Osborn Dupont eliminated Anne Shilcock and Helen Fletcher (England), 6-1, 6-2. They play the defending champions, Doris Hart and Shirley Fry, in the final tomorrow.
