LANDY’S MILE RECORD

RATIFICATION BY ASSOCIATION (KX. Preu Association^—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) BERNE, August 21. The International Amateur Athletics Association has ratified the world mile record of 3min SBsec set by John Landy, of Australia, at Turku, Finland, on June 21, It was announced tonight. The federation's rules and records committee also ratified Landy’s world record for the 1500 metres of 3min 41.8 sec, set up in the same race. The federation also confirmed the long jump record of 20ft 7jin by Yvette Williams, at Gisborne on February 20, 1954.
