MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING AT HAWARDEN The North Canterbury Miniature Rifle Association’s annual championship meeting was held at Hawarden Public Hall. Though the number of entries received did not equal last year's record figure, the scoring was better., In the senior grade, the Waiau club’s No. 1 team won with 796 out of the possible of 800.80. Last year the same team’s winning score was 790.56. In the junior grade, the Culverden team made 778.43, compared with the Waiau team’s winning score last year of 777.43. The Waiau team in the women’s section last year made 615.33, and won again this ' year with 623.32. The individual championship was won by K. Dunbar with the possible.

160.16, beating G. King’s winning score of last year, 160.14. The results were:— Senior Grade Match I.—l. K. Dunbar (Waiau) 1, R. .Burnett (Cheviot), H. Davies (Waiau), G. Wright, and G. At the weekly shoot of the Springston Miniature Rifle Shooting Club, Mr J. Reid’s trophy was won by G. Browman. Best scores were: O. Bailey, 80; G. Browman, 77; J. Morton, 76; T. Opie, W. Marshall, 74; J. Hubbard, 73.
