For the first time since he has been in New Zealand the Swiss Consul (Mr Henri Blanchard) has joined the descendants of his countrymen in Taranaki for the celebration of Switzerland’s national day. The descendants of Swiss settlers in Taranaki now number more than 500, and they are holding a reunion this week at Kaponga, centre of a thriving dairying district. The actual day of celebration will fall on Sunday, August 1.
