GUATEMALA
Sir, —May I commend your leading article of July 8 for its long but very clear statement of the position in Guatemala, which does away with several misunderstandings on the subject. My apologies to Elsie Locke for the delay in acknowledging her reply to my previous letter under this head. This is the correct answer to my question. When a non-Communist country attacks one with a Communist government, it is termed “aggression* and causes a great outcry from the Communists and their friends. When the position is reversed, as in the case of the rape of Tibet and the eastern States of Europe, it is termed “liberation” and no outcry from that quarter is heard. —Yours, etc., G.A.P. July 14, 1954. -
