PROPOSAL FOR RATE OPPOSED Saying that it was morally wrong to devote money raised from property holdings for personal benefits, the chairman of the Paparua County Council (Mr W. F. McArthur) last evening expressed concern at the reported support by a member of a neighbouring county council for a rate to raise money for the Aged People’s Welfare c °Such 1 ' projects, no matter how worthy, should not be . fiaan ®®?. ®?i®Y hv property owners, said Mr McArthur. The scheme proposed was similar'to the hospital rate, which had finally been abolished.
