DISPUTE SETTLED IN CONCILIATION Settlement was reached on all issues in a dispute over rates of pay and allowances between the Canterbury Accountants’ and Sharebrokers* Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers and public accountant employers. The dispute was heard yesterday before the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr A. B. Overtime will be calculated on a daily basis and payment will be made for time worked in excess of 40 hours a week. Overtime has previously been assessed on an annual basis. Provision has been made for an increase of 10s a week in the scale rate for passing the accountancy stage II examination, and the present payment of 19s for admission to the New Zealand Society of Accountants has been increased to £l. . , The rates for employees with six to 10 years of service has been increased by 4s 3d, 6s 7d, 4s 4d, 4s 5d and Is 7d respectively. Salaries become payable fortnightly instead of monthly. The adjustments will operate for two years from August 1. Employers’ assessors were: Messrs J. A Stanley, E. C. Searell and Henry Kitson. Employees’ assessors were: Messrs B. Palmer. A. N. Boyce and P. J. Dempsey.
