TOUR BY WELSH RUGBY TEAM

VISIT TO N.Z. IN 1958 SOUGHT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 12. The executive committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union decided today to recommend to the council that an invitation'be extended to Wales to send a team to New Zealand in 1958. The tour would occupy nine to 10 weeks, and would include 15 matches, of which three would be tests. The Welsh players (25 and a mahager) would be flown each way. The Australian Rugby Union advised that in accordance with the schedule of visits agreed upon by the International Board it had invited South Africa to send a team to Australia in 1956. It was decided that replacements during the tour by the New South Wales country unions should be discussed by Thames Valley with the visitors’ manager, and that the decision reached should become uniform for the tour.
