BOWLS
BURWOOD CLUB Membership of the Burwood Bowling Club had grown considerably, said the president (Mr E. E. Booth) at the first annual meeting of the club, which was held recently. The club was indebted to the Christchurch City Council for its cooperation in providing space and preparing a new bowling green in Burwood Park. A pavilion now being erected by volunteer labour was expected to be ready by next season, said Mr Booth. Officers were elected as follows:—president, Mr E. E. Booth; vice-president, Mr H. B. Moore; secretary, Mr R. J. Spence; treasurer, Mr T. Kennard; auditor, Mr C. Stanley; executive committee, Messrs J. E. Allen. J. R. Begg, J. A. Dale, S. Elliot, T. Griffith, L. Hudson, and H. Reaby; delegate to centre, Mr H. B. Moore; green superintendent, Mr F. Reaby; match committee, Messrs J. R. Begg and H. Reaby; social committee, Messrs J. E. Allen, J. Davies, F. J. Hayes, L. Hudson, and F. Reaby; building committee, Messrs E. E. Booth, A. T. Christenson, A. Hunter, S. Elliot, F. Reaby, H. Reaby, G. Reed, R. J. Spence, C. E. Stanley, and F. Ullrich. BURWOOD WOMEN’S CLUB The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Burwood Women's Bowling Club:— President, Mrs H. Reaby; vice-presi-dent, Mrs G. Roberts; secretary, Mrs N. Carrigan; treasurer, Mrs Gamble; centre delegate, Mrs Wederell; match committee, Mesdames Christensen, Chambers, and Davies; general committee, Mesdames Kennedy and Jackson. PAPANUX CLUB Officers were elected as follows at the annual meeting of the Papanui Bowling Club:— President, Mr W. J. Eady; vice-presi-dent, Mr E. J. Burgess; secretary, Mr H. L. Gleave; assistant secretary, Mr P. Hubble; treasurer, Mr C. Walker; assistant treasurer, Mr S. Kruse; centre delegate, Mr W. Pole; selector, Mr R. Bond; match committee, Messrs E. V. Smith, P, Hubble, and E. Fielding; green superintendent, Mr S. Norciiffe; auditor, Mr H. Students from Islands.—Passengers by the Matua, which arrived at Lyttelton yesterday from Apia and Suva, included three students. They are Miss Luisa Mataua (Wellington Girls’ College), and Messrs Nofalgi Vaveau (Wellesley College, Auckland) and Maurice Thompson (Victoria University College). i
